Opening the doors of government to

Maryland's college and university students.

The Maryland Student Legislature is a 501(c)3 nonprofit Maryland corporation founded to educate students at Maryland’s diverse colleges and universities about the political process, foster debate on the complex issues facing our state and local governments, and encourage political action by Maryland’s young people.

Welcome to the Maryland Student Legislature.

The voice of Maryland's college and university students since 1989.

"My four years with the Maryland Student Legislature were an incredible experience. It provided me with opportunities for both professional development and personal growth that shaped who I am today. I was drafted to be delegation vice-chair my freshman year, was elected delegation chair and Federalist Caucus Leader my sophomore year, Speaker my junior year, and Governor my senior year. As someone who had always been quiet and shy, it was only thanks to the MSL simulation and the amazing and supportive colleagues I met along the way that I found the drive and confidence to pursue leadership. I will always be grateful for my time in MSL and hope that it continues to be a breeding ground for 'Tomorrow's Leaders Today.'"

We are a diverse group of students from across the State of Maryland who come together to simulate the Maryland General Assembly.

We are passionate young people from across the state. Our members come from many different backgrounds and engage in a wide variety of academic, personal, and professional pursuits.

MSL is not just for students of political science or the law. Over the years we have welcomed members from such diverse areas of study as mathematics, physics, microbiology, education, creative writing, anthropology, sociology, and many, many more.

MSL students go on to do great things. Our alumni can be found at prestigious graduate schools across the country, in the offices of members of Congress and the Maryland General Assembly, in the classroom, the world of government relations, federal contractors, leading nonprofits and charities, and in elected office.

This is a truly singular experience. The Maryland Student Legislature provides an unparalleled up-close and personal look inside the workings of the state government, which no other collegiate organization can offer.
