Opening the doors of government to
Maryland's college and university students.
Welcome to the Maryland Student Legislature. The voice of Maryland's college and university students since 1989.
"My four years with the Maryland Student Legislature were an incredible experience. It provided me with opportunities for both professional development and personal growth that shaped who I am today. I was drafted to be delegation vice-chair my freshman year, was elected delegation chair and Federalist Caucus Leader my sophomore year, Speaker my junior year, and Governor my senior year. As someone who had always been quiet and shy, it was only thanks to the MSL simulation and the amazing and supportive colleagues I met along the way that I found the drive and confidence to pursue leadership. I will always be grateful for my time in MSL and hope that it continues to be a breeding ground for 'Tomorrow's Leaders Today.'"

We are a diverse group of students from across the State of Maryland who come together to simulate the Maryland General Assembly.
We are passionate young people from across the state. Our members come from many different backgrounds and engage in a wide variety of academic, personal, and professional pursuits.
MSL is not just for students of political science or the law. Over the years we have welcomed members from such diverse areas of study as mathematics, physics, microbiology, education, creative writing, anthropology, sociology, and many, many more.
MSL students go on to do great things. Our alumni can be found at prestigious graduate schools across the country, in the offices of members of Congress and the Maryland General Assembly, in the classroom, the world of government relations, federal contractors, leading nonprofits and charities, and in elected office.
This is a truly singular experience. The Maryland Student Legislature provides an unparalleled up-close and personal look inside the workings of the state government, which no other collegiate organization can offer.
The 2014 Fall Interim Assembly will be held November 21-23 at St. Mary's College of Maryland in Lexington Park, MD. The event will begin at 3:00 PM on Friday and end at 4:00 PM on Sunday.
This is the first legislative event of the year, where members will have the opportunity to present and defend their bills.
The Annual Legislative Reception is an opportunity for MSL members to get up close and personal with members of the Maryland General Assembly. Held every year while the MGA is in session, the Legislative Reception takes place in one of the delegation conference rooms in the State House in Annapolis. Senators and Delegates from across the state and across party lines drop by to learn about MSL, meet our members, and hear about the many innovative legislative proposals being put forth in the student legislature.Students who attend the Legislative Reception have often developed strong connections with members of the Assembly which began at this event. The Reception is a unique networking opportunity for students which has led to many internships on campaigns and in legislative offices.
The Spring Leadership Training Institute and Interim Assembly is both a legislative and training event. The first half of Day 1 is spent in breakout sessions which help new members find their footing and returning members refresh and expand their skill sets. The remaining day and a half are spent in session, with students defending and debating legislation in MSL's signature simulation of the MGA.
The Annual Session is the flagship event of the Maryland Student Legislature.
